Tower Rescue Training is developed for workers across multi-industry sectors who are exposed to the dangers of working at heights on a regular basis to perform self-rescue, or rescue of another person.
You will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to participate in safe and efficient rescues in simulated workplace environments by applying work at heights and rigging technique methodology safely and competently, specifically:
- Selection, inspection and safe use of equipment
- Access to structures and natural environments
- Responding to incidents
- Handling and first aid of a casualty
- Effective risk management strategies
- Requirements of relevant Australian Standards and Legislation

On successful completion of this program, participants will receive the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:
- PUASAR022A Participate in rescue operations
- RIIWHS204D Work safely at heights
- PUAEME001B Provide emergency care
- PUAFIR215 Prevent injury
Who Needs Tower Rescue Training?
Tower Rescue Training is suited for those working in operational roles who may be required to perform either self-rescue, or rescue of another person whilst conducting work at heights:
- Roof workers
- Plant / Equipment and Machinery Operators
- Tradesman – electrical, installation, building, carpentry, plumbing
- Tower workers / telecom workers
- Site Rescue personnel
Renewal: Every two (2) years or as stipulated by your employer
ASTRA use various assessment methods and techniques, including skill and knowledge assessments as an essential step to ensure you progress through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying and training with ASTRA, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and in some cases through recognition of prior learning.
Before commencing any course, ASTRA recommends you consult your doctor to determine any limitations with conducting practical demonstrations if applicable. There may be multiple tasks that require manual handling of materials and equipment and general exposure to accessing and working on structures at height. If you are unsure about your capabilities please contact the ASTRA team for further assistance and to determine the support services in place to assist your training experience.
