Certificate IV in Government Investigations

The aim of PSP40416 Certificate IV Government Investigations is to develop competent investigators capable of individually completing investigations within an Australian Government framework and consistent with the provision of Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS) – the minimum standards for Australian Government agencies conducting investigations.

Gain the theoretical knowledge and understanding of the practical application of the Government Investigation process by engaging in workshops and syndicate discussion scenario decision exercises. Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to interact with experienced investigators from relevant Australian Government agencies throughout the completion of this course.  Course participants will gain further insight into legal judicial requirements by participating in a court visit (if required and available), moot court (simulated court / arbitration proceeding) and through the practical application of knowledge and skills gained during the course.

Attendance is required for the full course schedule.

Multiple unit activity outcomes are blended for delivery flow and onsite delivery of content and therefore does not allow for non-attendance of partial days or catch up sessions as this will hinder learning opportunities for all participants.

Who should be completing Government Investigation Training?

PSP40416 Certificate IV in Government Investigations is targeted at private organisations and Government Departments that are looking to upskill their employees working within the public administration, safety, health care, other industries that need the skills and knowledge that this qualification provides.

Learning Methods

ASTRA use various assessment methods and techniques, including skill and knowledge assessments as an essential step to ensure you progress through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying and training with ASTRA, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples and third-party feedback.

There is self-paced learning required for this course which includes completion of homework and research activities as well as online learning materials. Students may require access to a computer and internet outside of scheduled training days. ASTRA can assist with any resources or access as required.

Before commencing any course, ASTRA recommends you consult your doctor to determine any limitations with conducting practical demonstrations if applicable. There are be regular tasks that require manual handling of materials, tools and equipment including exposure to outdoor elements.

ASTRA requires all students to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As a minimum requirement, any personnel attending an ASTRA course and training facility must wear enclosed, lace-up shoes with a non-slip sole. Further guidance and support on PPE will be provided at enrolment.
