The CPR & First Aid Training is suited for everyone that should have basic First Aid skills and that being trained in First Aid can not only provide you with essential skills for your career and workplace but may ultimately assist you to help save a loved one when an emergency arises.
Renewal: As per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, First Aid skills are renewed every three (3) years and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.
CPR & First Aid Training is designed to reduce pain or prevent the worsening of a condition and is an expected skill for numerous careers such as nursing, teaching, childcare providers, or any job that regularly deals with the public. Though many students choose to study as a workplace requirement, it’s an important skill to learn regardless of your profession.
ASTRA use various assessment methods and techniques, including skill and knowledge assessments as an essential step to ensure you progress through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying and training with ASTRA, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and in some cases through recognition of prior learning.
ASTRA requires all students to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As a minimum requirement, any personnel attending an ASTRA course and training facility must wear enclosed, lace-up shoes with a non-slip sole.
Before commencing any first aid courses, ASTRA recommends you consult your doctor to determine any limitations with conducting practical demonstrations if applicable. There may be multiple tasks that require manual handling of materials and equipment. If you are unsure about your capabilities, please contact the ASTRA team for further assistance and to determine the support services in place to assist your training experience.
