  • BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes – describes the steps required for organising, operating, and upgrading WHS consultation and participation procedures.
  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management – covers detecting, appraising and managing risk in regard to WHS.
  • BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems – defines the requirements and outcomes needed for applying and maintaining WHS manage systems across a range of jobs and industries.
  • BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response – explains the processes required when reacting to WHS incidents.
  • BSBMGT401 Show leadership in the workplace – modelling leadership that displays an organisations standards and values.
  • BSBMGT403 Implement continuous improvement – describes and explains methods for ongoing improvement.
  • BSBRES411 Analyse and present research information – explains research fundamentals and includes how to examine, understand, and present research.
  • BSBWHS418 Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors – details the implications of WHS and working with contractors.
  • BSBWHS419 Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes – covers what measures are used to collect, analyse, and report data in regards to workplace conditions.

What’s Covered?

Students will be expected to create and cultivate WHS policies and procedures. The following content will be taught:

  • Identify, interpret and apply WHS legislation.
  • Understand the obligations of employees and employers.
  • Access WHS resources
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, suggest controls and monitor effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement WHS policies and procedures

Astra Group’s Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety uses a range of case studies based on real events, as well as individual and group activities to support learning that can be applied to real life.


ASTRA uses a wide variety of assessment methods and techniques to evaluate students during the BSB41419 course. While training in the Certificate IV Work Health and Safety, class students will undergo observations, write assignments, take part in question-and-answer sessions, create portfolios, submit work samples, and receive third-party feedback.

Assessment is structured around the completion of in-class case studies, individual and collaborative activities, written submissions, and a post course project.

A self-paced post-course assessment is required to complete the qualification requirements.

Delivery Model

Our BSB41419 training course consists of two options.

Option 1: Face to Face + Post Course

This is fiveface-to-face sessions plus additional self-paced learning which includes homework and online materials. Access to a computer and the internet is recommended to ensure you get the most out of the Cert IV Work Health and Safety course. ASTRA can assist students with access or materials as required.

ASTRA also recommends anyone in a course that comes to a training facility to wear lace-up shoes with a non-slip sole.

Option 2: Workplace Training

This is a progressive course over 10 face to face sessions conducted at your workplace. Includes monthly self-paced activities and assignments.

Access to a workplace with an existing safety system is recommended to ensure you get the most out of the Cert IV Work Health and Safety course.
